Dog Size Guide - How to Measure Your Dog

How to Measure Your Dog for the Perfect Fit

Getting the right size is essential for your dog's comfort and safety. Follow our simple measuring guide below to find the perfect fit for collars, harnesses, and coats.

What You'll Need

  • A soft measuring tape (like a tailor's tape)
  • Your dog standing in a natural position
  • Treats to keep them still!

How to Measure

1. Neck Circumference (for Collars)

Measure around the base of your dog's neck where the collar naturally sits. You should be able to fit two fingers between the tape and your dog's neck for a comfortable fit.

2. Chest Girth (for Harnesses & Coats)

Measure around the widest part of your dog's chest, just behind the front legs. This is the most important measurement for harnesses and coats.

3. Back Length (for Coats & Jackets)

Measure from the base of the neck (where the collar sits) to the base of the tail. Your dog should be standing naturally.

Fitting Tips

  • Between sizes? Choose the larger size for comfort, especially for coats and harnesses.
  • Adjustable collars: Most of our collars are adjustable within the size range shown.
  • Breed variations: Remember that individual dogs vary - always measure rather than relying solely on breed recommendations.
  • Coat fit: Coats should cover from neck to base of tail without restricting movement.
  • Harness fit: You should be able to fit two fingers under the harness straps when fastened.
